I gave you my heart You gave me yours We planted a gold And it grew in 3 years But I sold it Without notice You are my ex American lover You had a heart of a million dollar We shed some tears of silver And I sold it Without notice I didn’t come here to fight my heart I didn’t come here to fight against my will I measured the depth of love I need some time to hide in the cave Ex American lover, You had a heart of a million dollar We shed some tears of silver And I sold it Without notice “You always be…” “I never retrieve what we had” “What we had is gone away” You are my ex American lover You had a heart of a million dollar We shed some tears of silver And I sold it Without notice

We are in the darkest room in Holland You made a hollow in the sand There’s no sound And I listened ’til I bloom We try to get closer Closer you approach There’s no sound There’s no light And I listened ’til you bloom For a second I reckon You’re gonna take my heart? You’re gonna light up my heart? In the darkest room in Holland Suddenly The weather changed how it beats The fear kicks in The house is rattling For a few seconds longer Would you hold me closer? I know you are leaving When the sun beams in For a few seconds longer Would you hold me closer?

Remember The first word you said to me Remember It was only yesterday Remember These walking men Remember The path we have taken September The wind whispered love, love, love I enter The park with no doves Remember The first word you said to me Remembering The first thing you’ve done to me You knew I was new to this Remember Your wife might be near us Remember Your son might be hearing us You knew I was new to this And your secret is safe with me I remember The first word he said to me I wonder What has become of him

Opening The door to tomorrow Gunning down All the opposing pawns I want to feel The night time passing Thin skin thickening The kingdom falling New beginning I’m sorry, Goodbye I loved you, I think Oh Sun! (Purifier of all the missing dreams) Oh Sun! (Blinder of all the missing dreams) Oh Sun! (Finder of all the missing dreams) Oh Sun! (Savior of all the missing dreams) Opening The door to tomorrow Filtering Future bad myths Lifting God-awful weights Heaven-cursing sins Dead-cold yesterdays Your blackhole eyes I’m sorry, Goodbye I loved you, I think Oh Sun! (Purifier of all the missing dreams) Oh Sun! (Blinder of all the missing dreams) Oh Sun! (Finder of all the missing dreams) Oh Sun! (Savior of all the missing dreams) You’ll never get what you want I’ll never get what I want now I know

about

Tokyo’s ELLEH create songs for the early-morning hours, that stretch of time before trains start up for the day and when it is still possible to find escape from personal heartache in a club. The duo’s “Anthems EP Part I” is a gateway into the backstreets and dance floors their music is meant to soundtrack.

The four songs present on “Anthems EP Part I” zip between escape and gloom, ELLEH casting feelings of longing and loss through a tipsy filter that always stay in motion regardless of how painful it gets. “American Lover” is a playful and tipsy electronic pop number anchored by Teshima’s melancholy singing. Yet the pair explore more shadowy territory on cuts such as “Darkest Room In Holland,” and even more upbeat inclusions such as “New To This” and “Door To Tomorrow” feature unease in the corners. Rounding it out, producer Super Magic Hats offers a dreamy remix of “American Lover.”

This is just the first installment of ELLEH’s sad boy disco story, focused on one person’s bargaining with heartbreak and turning to music as salvation as the dawn nears.
Yet for the time being, just embrace your emotions and get lost in the sound.
